Hi, I'm James
James Mills has over 20 year’s experience as a professional photographer, he is extremely down-to-earth, easy to work with and your session is guaranteed to be lots of fun! In his commercial work he has worked for M&C Saatchi, Frankie Magazine, Harpers Bazaar Australia, Grazia Australia, Men's Health, RSPCA and many more. Our family sessions are taken during the best lighting of the day (morning or late afternoon), set on the beautiful beaches of the Central Coast and Sydney's Northern Beaches.

What should we wear?
That is completely up to you. However what we think tends to look best in this style of photos is more neutral colours and not too many patterns or overly loud colours. If you have a look in some of the images on this page you will get a feel for what looks good. We also recommend wearing clothes that it's ok to get a bit wet in, most people don't wear shoes.
Can we bring our dog?
Some of our sessions are dog friendly, when you click on the book now button you will be taken to the sessions we currently have planned. and each session will be labelled as being dog friendly or not. If you are bringing your dog to a dog friendly session it is your responsibility to ensure you comply with all leash rules for the location and to make sure your doggo is behaved around everyone at the shoot.
What if it's raining or bad weather on the day?
We will do weather checks in the days leading up to the shoot and if it looks like the weather will not be great we will let you know it MAY not go ahead. If you want to postpone please get in touch with us. Although some of the most stunning photos are taken in overcast skies so if it's doable then I would recommend coming. In terms of actually cancelling the session we will make that call prior to the shoot and give you the option to cancel or move your shoot to a new time and day. Can we bring our animal other than a dog?
Possibly, please get int touch with us first. We're more curious as to the kind of pet you want to bring. If it's a saltwater crocodile likely not, if it's a very friendly cat that happens to love the beach and people and it's allowed at the location, for sure! We love cats.
Us or our child is neurodivergent or has a disability can you work with us?
Yes absolutely, please reach out to us to discuss how we can try to accommodate you. Our photographer is neurodivergent, his super power is winding up kids to get great photos! Reach out in the contact area.
Why do you do photoshoots in this time format?
Most family shoots are scheduled for about 1 hour, sometimes more. I have found that most kids are bored after about 20 minutes and we stop getting great photos of them. By doing a 20 minute session on the beach and letting people run wild with a little guidance we get the most amazing and natural photos. Plus the kids have a great time and it isn't a chore to get beautiful family photos.
Why are the sessions in the morning?
The best light for photography is generally in the morning and in the afternoon. We have found that while getting up early can be annoying everyone is fresh and full of energy, plus it's much easier to plan the day after the shoot is done in the morning. Lots of families choose to go out for a fun family breakfast afterwards.
What do we get after the session? Can I print my photos?
A maximum of 14 days after the session you will be sent a link to an online gallery of at least 15 images that you can download in small or large sizes for printing. You will also be able to order framed prints and other items through our website.
We would love to do one of your photoshoots but no places/times work for us?
No problem, we will be adding photoshoots quite regularly to stay informed when we add new sessions add your email to the sign up below. We will never give your email to anyone else and you can unsubscribe at anytime. We can also organise a private session at a time and place of your choosing, just get in touch with us in the contact section.
Do you do other kinds of shoots?
Yes, James has been working as a photographer and film maker for 20 years starting when he was in the Army and working in Iraq. James has shot almost any type of photography you can think of but loves creative style of photography. We have a special request for our shoot can you help?
Sure if it's something simple we will do our best to accommodate you, just make sure you mention it in the notes when you book the session. If it's something a little more tricky please get in touch with us in advance and we will try to help.
What can I use the photos for, can I use them for my business?
The licensing for the photos allows you to use them for personal use only. The means you can share them with your family, print them out and put them on the wall, post them on social media etc. However they cannot be used in relation to a business or for commercial purposes. If you do have a request like that please get in touch.
How long will it take to get our photos?
It will take a maximum of 14 days to get your link to the photos, we aim for sooner though.
Are there any catches?
No, we clearly state what we are offering and our prices. We have been told about other practices whereby you "win" a competition for a free photoshoot and are then roped into paying thousands for your shoot. Our business model relies on repeat customers, not scam practices.
